Victoria, BC - Trafford Publishing, the world’s largest full-service independent publisher, and Rolex Plastics Manufacturing Ltd., Vancouver Island’s largest print shop and bindery, announced today that Trafford Publishing has acquired Morriss Printing from Rolex Plastics. Morriss is British Columbia’s oldest book printing company.

Geoff Reid, CEO of Rolex Plastics says, “the union between the two companies creates a synergy in the marketplace where we have the ability to serve both on-demand and conventional customers. This union positions us to offer products that anticipate the fast-changing book printing industry. Leveraging Trafford’s sales into over 120 countries, this expands our global markets substantially”

Trafford CEO, Gord Hooker adds, “there is substantial value in this alliance. This lays the foundation for Trafford to expand and represents a significant step in our strategic growth plans. There will be no job losses and we are actively recruiting because of our rapid growth.”

Trafford, whose On Demand Manuals division produces computer and other manuals for over 250 companies can now offer an expanded product line including larger runs, bindery products, custom three ring binders and index tabs. The acquisition allows the two companies to venture into producing corporate manuals such as parts manuals, training manuals and other corporate documentation.

Trafford and Morriss Printing will both be located at 2657 Wilfert Road in Colwood, which will permit the addition of new technology by adding digital roll-fed equipment establishing Trafford as the first book printer in Canada to use this state of the art digital Xerox technology.

Trafford Publishing would like to welcome Geoff Reid to its Board of Directors. Geoff has been in the printing and bindery industry for over 21years and has taken a two-man operation into a multi-million dollar operation. Says Reid, “I have been watching Trafford for a long time and welcomed the opportunity to make a substantial investment in a growing and profitable enterprise.”

Trafford is best known for publishing over 13,000 independent authors from over 120 countries, making it the most prolific book publisher in Canada. “The benefits of this acquisition to our authors will be faster turnaround, higher quality, a wider variety of products and services, and cost efficiencies on larger-quantity runs,” says Hooker.
